In the past few months, we’ve seen a bunch of new offers from the brand including devices like the Tecno Spark 7p, the review to which you can find here, the Tecno Camon 17, just to mention a few. Keeping to the same pace, we now have reports of Tecno unveiling yet another device, this time an update to its Pova-line up. The Tecno Pova 2 has just been unveiled in the Philippines.

The Tecno Pova 2 spots a rather massive 6.9-inch full HD+ IPS LCD display. Spreading that few pixels over such a massive canvas results in a pretty low PPI but we got to wait to have it in the office to tell more about this. The display also has a 180Hz touch sampling rate and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate, a far cry from the 90Hz we’ve seen in cheaper Tecno devices. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage, with reports of a lesser equiped, and probably cheaper 4+64GB option. Luckily, the memory is also expandable via microSD card slot. The Pova 2 has a quad-camera setup with 48 MP main camera, 2 MP macro camera, 2 MP depth sensor, as well as another 2 MP sensor for AI photography. For selfie lovers, the device has an 8 MP sensor. The phone runs on HiOS 7.6 based on Android 11 and it is backed by a, get this, 7000 mAh battery that supports upto 18W fast charging. It also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Connectivity features are Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS, and a micro USB.
Tecno Pova 2 Pricing and Availability
The new phone is priced at at PHP 7,990 (approx. $167) for the sole 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version. Also limited are the paint-jobs that this device comes in. Reports indicate that the Pova 2 comes in a single Polar Silver color. Now, details on local availability remain scanty but we should get more on this in the next few days/weeks so stay tuned for more on that.
