Xiaomi isn’t the only one pushing the frontiers of wireless charging. In July, Chinese smartphone vendor Oppo also announced 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charger along with a 125W wired charger. The 65W AirVOOC wireless flash charger which can fully charge a 4000mAh battery in 30 minutes uses charge pump technology and parallel dual-coil design to further increase wireless charging efficiency. Xiaomi’s 80W wireless tech follows the 40W wireless charger it announced at first quarter of the year and 50W mast-produced version in August. The recently announced Mi 10 Utra smartphone ships with this 50W wireless charger as well as 120W wired charging option. This follows recently announced iPhone 12 which supports upto 15W wireless charging with its new line of MagSafe chargers. Even though standard wired charging still out-performs Wireless charging, it has come a long way.
